second introduction

Hello friends

I'm Mrs Columbia, and I'm new to being a wife, mother, and trying to be a homesteader. I want to share my story so I can look back over the years at all that's changed and we have accomplished.

The house needed a lot of work and still does. We turned the master bathroom into a storage space. We have accumulated alot of things we don't need but keep anyway (we are working on that but that's another story for another time) nothing in the bathroom was working right and it was a mess.

We have a few storage areas, the addition that's what we call the porch that my husband enclosed it's not finished or heated. It's a little smaller than half the house. We use the two car garage upstairs for storage, and the bottom is my husband's tools. We park the trucks outside.

Now you're asking your self's why we need so much storage space. Well I had everything from before we got married and he had all his father's idem because he passed. My mother inlaw had a lot of her parents idems from when they passed. Her parents collected vintage idems and made a lot of wooden art pieces.

Our first year here in 2020, we did a lot of declutering, organizing, and throwing things away. We got things labeled, and all the trash cleaned up. Everything fits into our 3 storage areas.

In our second year, 2021, I went through every box that was just my stuff, and with declutering or throwing away, I could fit everything in the master bathroom that we changed into storage, now called the backroom.

In our third year, 2022, we went through everything on the addition and put everything that was mine or our child's in the backroom. We brought everything that was my husband's to the upstairs of the garage. My mother inlaw went through everything that was hers declutering, organizing, and thrown away.

In our fourth year, 2023, we cleaned out the addition and brought a lot of clothing to donate. I got rid of anything in the backroom that didn't have a spot, and now the backroom is going to be a bedroom for our first child.

In our fifth year 2024, we cleaned out the 3 rooms upstairs in the garage and had a huge yard sale after we cleaned and organized half of one room had stuff my mother inlaw wanted to save. The other half has stuff my husband wants to save. We cleaned out the bottom of the garage, got everything organizing, and put away. Anything that didn't fit or he didn't need we got rid of. One small room upstairs has truck parts for if something brakes.

More next week, I will be trying to post every Sunday morning.
