Easter 2025

Hello friends  I'm Mrs Columbia, and I'm new to being a wife, mother, and trying to be a homesteader. I want to share my story so I can look back over the years at all that's changed and we have accomplished.  Easter preparation a few days before I bought candy toys Easter eggs and paper grass for the Easter baskets. I got a ham eggs carrots potatoes, stuffing, and a can of cranberry sauce.  The night before, I filled the eggs with candy and hide, them all around the house. I like to put some in the kids' beds so they wake up, and it's the first thing they see. I made their Easter basket by putting paper grass, then candy and the toys in them, and put those on the table. This morning is Easter. The kids wake up to plastic eggs in their beds, and they are very excited. They came out into the living room and saw the egg collecting baskets and started finding the eggs. After they found all the easy eggs, they saw the baskets with toys on the table and wanted to open th...

A week of cleaning

Hello friends  I'm Mrs Columbia, and I'm new to being a wife, mother, and trying to be a homesteader. I want to share my story so I can look back over the years at all that's changed and we have accomplished. This is what a week of cleaning for our house. The week starts with Sunday, and I don't do extra cleaning on Sunday. I do daily chores such as starting a load of laundry. I like to start with my husband. He's a mechanic. As you can imagine, his clothing gets rather dirty.  After I cleaned the counter and washed the table after breakfast. It's spring, so I need to water plants. I make the beds and sweep the floors as we don't have rugs. Then I put away the dishes from the dishwasher that I ran the night before. Then I fold the laundry and start the next load of mine and the children's clothing. Then I make dinner and clean up after that wash dishes load the dishwasher. After the load of laundry is done, I fold and put it away. That's the daily ta...

2025 garden plans

Hello friends  I'm Mrs Columbia, and I'm new to being a wife, mother, and trying to be a homesteader. I want to share my story so I can look back over the years at all that's changed, and we have accomplished.    This week, I built my greenhouse. We keep in the bedroom as that's the only south facing window.  Other than the one in the kitchen and our kitchen is way too small. For a green house to give you an idea, we have a 30 something year old trailer. That didn't have a dishwasher or working washing machine. We put in a portable washer and dishwasher that we have to keep in the kitchen as it hooks to the sink and doesn't fit in the bathroom. I planted rosemarry and pepers on monday and Tuesday. I planted tomatoes and Tyme. As of when I'm making this post, I plan to plant basil parsley and Oregano next week, and the week after that, I will plant watermelon cucumber and zucchini.  My garden layout plan is to have the Peas and beans growing on the fence wall...

a day in the life

Hello friends  I'm Mrs Columbia, and I'm new to being a wife, mother, and trying to be a homesteader. I want to share my story so I can look back over the years at all that's changed and we have accomplished.  The kids are sick they have a cold. I was up most of the night blowing noises. We woke at 7 a.m., and the children snuggled in my bed till 830. They had breakfast and played with toys till 10 am. While they played, i stared a load of laundry and then cleaned the bathroom.  At 10 a.m., I gave them a natural medicine to help with their runny nose. We snuggled in our chair and read books for an hour. I sat on the floor and built an epic house from magnetic tiles with the children. We put in bunked beds and got our fisher-price little people toys, and made them sleep.  Lunch was at noon. We had a sandwich after we cleaned up the toys in the living room. Then, we got ready for a nap. we read a book and snuggled. After the youngest fell asleep, I folded the laundry. ...
